Game Design and Creation
Unity3D – https://unity3d.com
Unity is a cross-platform game engine developed by Unity Technologies and used to develop Video Games for PC, console, mobile devices and websites.
Unity would be the best option because there are plenty of online tutorials available to teach me how to make the type of game I want and it gives me the ability to have a crossover between a 2D based game but with some 3D attributes like a 3D Character.

Another option would be…
Construct 2
Construct 2 is an HTML5 -based 2D game editor, developed by Scirra Ltd. It is aimed primarily at non-programmers, allowing quick creation of games in a drag-and-drop fashion using a visual editor and a behavior-based logic system. Construct 2 is good because it is quite easy to use and learn, it allows you to make 2D games very quickly and involves very little coding. However, construct is a lot more restricting with a lot less personalisation. Most games often end up looking very similar and there is little room for any 3D elements. However Construct 2 will be a good backup if I am unable to work with Unity.
Character Creation
Blender to Unity to character creation would give me a lot of control over how my character looks and moves, however, I will have to set up the rig and animation myself which might be a learning curve for a beginner to both Blender and Unity.
Another possibility if I cant get my head around Blender would be to use Adobe Fuse and Mixamo.

– GAME CONCEPT –
The game will begin with the character ‘waking up’ underground with no idea where they are or why the are there. Walking through the tunnel she comes upon a radio that calls out to her, she picks up the radio and a voice coming from it explains to her that to escape the underground she must collect items from each station platform on the underground. Every platform is based in a different time period in the history of the London Underground ranging from the steam age all the way up to present day. She must collect these artifacts to reboot the Artificial Intelligence system that runs the underground and the AI promises to get her back home after.
In each station segment, the player learns more about the history of the London underground as she collects the different artifacts to restore the AI’s memories. Level one of the game is her finding the artifacts whilst using them to help her get past certain obstacles and level two will be implementing those artifacts in some way to reboot the system.
– DIVISION OF LABOR –
For this project, I am going to be working with a radio and sound student. The division of labor is going to be very clear. Everything visual, i.e the game itself, any models, graphics, animation, and coding is me. Anything that can be heard will be from Jed Hunt, a radio and sound student. As well as creating the audio itself Jed has also written the script and therefore the majority of the narrative has come from him.
We have been looking at this project as two separate entities that come together to create a complete project. Because of this all of our research, development, blogs and reflections etc are separate and have been written individually.
